Ben Lomond Water operates under a stringent legislative and regulated environment. Our charging arrangements are regulated by the Interim Price Order (IPO) which is part of the Water and Sewerage Industry Act 2008 and issued by the Treasurer. The IPO states that for the first three years of operation, Ben Lomond Water is to charge the same tariffs, fees and charges that were charged by Councils prior to us taking over the management of these services. The IPO sets out an allowable capped increase each year until a Pricing Services Plan is approved by the Economic Regulator. In 2009, the State Government announced that it would provide a rebate to customers to ensure that no customer would pay more than a 5% increase on the combined total of their water and sewerage service charges from the previous year. This rebate also applied to 2010/2011 charges and was reflected separately in customer accounts.
The 2011/2012 water and sewerage charges are based on the below 2010/2011 charges. The Treasurer has allowed Ben Lomond Water to increase charges by $50 per service or 10%, whichever is the greater until the target tariff is reached. Information on target tariffs can be found here.
Revised miscellaneous fees and charges will come into effect from 1 September 2011
