Water Reform
From July 1 Tasmania enters a new era in water services designed to meet our future water needs. Three new corporations in Tasmania's three regions, Cradle Mountain Water, Ben Lomond Water and Southern Water have been formed to provide regional management of the State's water and sewerage services. Tasmania's regional water corporations are owned by local councils and offer a new approach to water and sewerage management.
These corporations will be responsible for sourcing, treating and supplying drinking water, and for removing, treating and disposing of wastewater.
From this time, all of Tasmania’s reticulated towns – from Flinders Island to the Huon Valley – will be cared for by their new local water corporation.
